SOPHIE FERENCZI - "The Raptor"
15 year old Sophie has been running with the squad for almost 4 years and has shown outstanding improvement in her time with coach Jordan and the Up And Running Program.
Sophie enjoys Middle to Long Distance Races the best, Cross Country and 3000m track being her favourites.

Sophie also competes in Surf Life Saving Nippers (water events), swimming, soccer, oz tag and netball. She hopes that one day running could take her to the Olympics.
She says training with Up And Running is challenging yet fun and social. "Jordan's really nice and explains our sets really well."
LACHLAN STANFIELD - "Flash"
Lachlan began running at the age of 4 at little Athletics and has never stopped. Now 15 he is proving to be an outstanding Athlete over several distances, however he claims 5km races to be his favourite.

In recent times Lachlan has achieved some amazing results and continues to build a profile as one of Sydney's top Junior runners. In less than 2 years he has taken his 5km PB from 18:59 down to 17:28.

Lachlan has played AFL, Rugby League, Oz Tag and Touch Football at Regional and State Represntative Level. He is also a keen competitve swimmer.
He hopes that one day running will earn him a spot of the Australian Commonwealth Games or Olympic Teams.
When asked about his training with Up And Running Lachlan says "I like the coaches, Jordan & Woz. I like the hard training that we do, it’s really organised. I also like the fun that we have, whilst I get to see my friends and train with them."
13 year old Max has been training seriously for a little over 3 years, having previously displayed some potential at school, zone and regional cross-country carnivals – he has also played competitive AFL, rugby union and cricket in the last few seasons.
Joining Up And Running in 2017 he began to transform his fitness and he reached the NSW All Schools State Cross-Country Championship for the first time despite having his preparation interrupted by a broken collarbone earlier that season.
Putting this behind him and focussing on regaining full fitness, he really began to hit his straps in the 2017/18 track season culminating in a Silver Medal for the NSW State Junior Track Championships in the 3000m and 5th place in a very competitive 1500m, smashing both PBs by some margin.
Max prefers middle to longer distance races and has had a great 2018 so far, finishing as age group winner or on the podium in a number of fun runs, cross country and road races from 3-5km.
His current PBs include:

2000m Steeple Chase - 6:52
In 2018 Max placed 4th at the NSW Cross Country Championships in Nowra qualifying for the NSW Team at the Australian Cross Country Championships.
2019 has seen Max add the 2000m Steeple Chase to his program and in just a few attempts at the event took the Silver Medal at the NSW Junior Track and Field Championships and placed 7th at the National Track and Field Championships. He has also qualified for the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships.
Max really enjoys the Up And Running training environment, mixing hard work, commitment and the opportunity to train with older and faster athletes, but also the fun aspects, having made a whole new set of friends. He says “Jordan and Woz are fully committed, supporting us in all our race events as well as our training – thanks guys!”
15 Year old Brody started running at Little A's at the age of 5. Moving through the zone and regional carnivals at school he released he needed guidance and training to improve so April of 2017 he decided to get serious about his middle distance running and Cross Country and joined the Up And Running Team.
His favourite events are 3km Cross Country and 5km Fun Runs. He is the current Age group Record Holder (11-14) for the 5km Kamay Park Run running a 18.56 PB. Other PBs include 800 meter 2:31, 1500 meter 4.56, and 3Km 10.34.

NSW State 1500m track relay championships GOLD Medal
Brody says " Coach Jordan always makes the training varied and never boring. We are always doing different things, there is always laughing but we know when we have to focus. Up And Running makes training fun. Since training with Up And Running I’ve made new friends and my race times have improved. My favourite session is the 80 metre up and down hills in Centennial Park."
Brody also loves Basketball and has played rep level for Sydney Comets under 12 & under 14 years. He also plays Oz Tag & Touch Football.
PIPER SIMPSON - The Viper
10 year old Piper is one of those special runners with natural talent and a big engine. In her first 6 months of serious running she has come to dominate races on track, road and cross country against much older competition and earned herself a dual National Champion Crown.
Piper has won Sliver and Bronze Medals in 800 and 1500m track races at Regional, State and National Little Athletics Championships.
She took the GOLD Medal in the Under 12 division of the St George Cup Cross Country to open the 2018 NSW Championship Series and the GOLD Medal at the NSW Road Championships in the Under 12 divison placing 3rd overall.
At the 2018 NSW All Schools Cross Country Champioships she took the Bronze Medal and qualified to represent NSW at the Australian Cross Country Championships where she finished 4th.
On the Track, Piper won the 2018 NSWPSSA Championships 800 metre event in a blistering time of 2:31. This was followed by dual Gold Medals in the 800 (2:25.80) and 1500 (4:57.87) at the Australian PSSA Championships in Melbourne.
She has kicked of 2019 with Gold Medals in both the 800 and 1500m events at the NSW Little Athletics Championships, and went on tio defend her National Titles in Darwin both in massive PB times.
She is seriously one to watch!!!
GEORGE "Turbo" VERCO
Another great all round sportsman 14 year old George can do it all.
He plays representative Cricket, AFL and is a highly competitive surf athlete for the North Bondi Surf Club.
Taking up running to support his other sports George discovered his ability as a Cross Country athlete. In 2016 he placed 4th at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships and went on to represent NSW at the National Championships in Canberra.
In 2017 he continued to improve under the Up And Running program finishing 2nd at the CIS Cross Country Championships and 3rd at the NSW Athletics Cross Country Championships in Nowra. He placed 6th at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships and represented NSW at the National Championships in Tasmania.
On the sand George has also shown some impressive talent running for North Bondi Nippers in the 2km Beach Run Event finishing 4th at the Sydney Branch Championships and 6th at the State Championships.
In 2018 George continued his success with a podium finish at the CIS Cross Country Championships and 8th place at the NSW Athletics Cross Country Championships and 4th place at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships qualifying for the NSW Team at the Australian Cross Country Championships.
George is looking forward to longer distance races in the future where his endurance will come into play. He is a tough young runner who really knows how to compete and test himself on the hardest courses.
GRACE HENRY - "The Energiser Bunny"
13 Year old Grace Henry is an outstanding athlete in every respect.
A very talented swimmer and runner she already has and extensive list of Age Group victories in duathlon events.
Grace won the 2017 Sydney Eastern Region Cross Country Championships and went on to qualify for the NSW All Schools Championships at Eastern Creek.
She also took out her Age Group with a victory in the NSW Athletics Road Championships at Homebush, and the GOLD Medal at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships.
Grace is also at the top of her Age Group in the sports of Triathlon and Biathlon winning countless races around the country. In 2019 she palced 4th in the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships qualifying for the NSW Team at the National Championships in Queensland where she finished in 10th place and 3rd NSW Athlete in the Junior Division.
She won the SILVER Medal at the NSWCCC Cross Country Championships qualifying for the NSW All Schools Championships.
Grace is certainly one to watch in the future. She loves the friendly support and encouragement of the Up And Running coaches and the fun she has with her friends in the squad.
PARIS TIER - "The Mantis"
At 16 years of age Paris has done it all. A representative in several sports including swimming, triathlon, netball, touch football, and recently even Rugby.
She will tell you that the fitness gained through running has allowed her to achieve across a wide variety of sports.
Paris has had a very successful running career to date through Little Athletics and in 2017 she has represented NSW in 3000 metre track championships at the Australian Schools Athletics Championships. She was a finalist at the Combined Catholic Colleges Championships in the 800m and 1500m events and took Gold in the 3000m Race Walk.
She also took two silver medals at the 2017 NSW All Schools Track Championships in the 3000m Race Walk and in the 2000m Steeple Chase and represented NSW at the National Schools Track Championships.
In Cross Country she has had outstanding success at State level for a number of years and in 2017 and 2018 qualified for the NSW Athletics Team at the Australian Cross Country Championships.
Also enjoying the sport of Triathlon Paris has had several podium finishes at Regional Events. She was 3rd female outright at the Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon in Canberra easily winning her Age Group. She was 1st Female outright in the Noosa Triathlon Run/Swim/Run and finished 15th at the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships and placed 7th at The Australian Open Champioships.
She also represented NSW in the 2018 Australia Junior Athletics Championships in the 3000m, 3000m Race Walk and the 2000m Steeple Chase. At the 2019 NSW Junior Track and Field Championships Paris took Silver in the 2000m Steeple Chase.
Also an outstanding Surf Athlete both in the water and on the sand. She trains on the sand with her good friend Sophie Ferenczi under the guidance of Coach Jordan and this year achieved a podium finish with a Bronze Medal in the 2 kilometre Beach Run at the NSW State Surf Titles.
OLIVER FREEMAN - The Dark Horse
15 Year old Oliver is a gifted middle distance runner who has quickly moved up the ranks of Cross Country racing in recent times.
After success at the 2017 CIS Cross Country Championships he qualified for the Australian Cross Country Championships in Tasmania representing NSW finishing in 15th place.
This has continued into 2018 where he dominated GPS Schools Championships going on to take out 2nd place at the CIS Cross Country Championships.
At the NSW Athletics Cross Country Championships in Nowra he placed 6th earning a place in the NSW Team for the Australian Championships. This was followed by a Bronze Medal at the NSW All Schools Championships at Eatern Creek and selectionto the NSW All Schools Team at the Australian Cross Country Championships.
He ran an amazing 50 minutes and 12 seconds in the 2018 City 2 Surf starting from the back of the pack and placed 3rd overall in the 10km Fathers Day Warrior Run in a time of 35:23.
In 2019 he won the Bronze Medal at the CIS Cross Country Championships qualifying for the NSW All Schools Carnival, and another Bronze Medal at the NSW Athletics Cross Country Championships.
On his first ever NSW All Schools Track Championships he won the Bronze Medal in both the 2000m Steeple Chase and the 3000m event.

EVAN VUKOVIC - Fast and Furious!!!
In his first 6 months of running with Up And Running 13 year old Evan has gone from school level Athlete to State Finalist in his favourite Sprint events the 100 and 200 metres.
In this time he won the Gold at the Regional Athletics Trials representing the Combined Catholic Primary Schools Team.
At the Catholic Schools NSW Mackillop Championships he took Silver Medals in both the 100 and 200 metre events.
He was a finalist at both distances at the NSW PSSA Championships where he placed 6th in the 100 and 9th in the 200 metre.
Evan has begun to expand his sprinting to longer distances adding a Silver Medal to his 100 and 200 tally in the 400 metre race at the Eastern Zone Little Athletics Championships. At the Regional Championships he took GOLD in the 100 and 200m and finished 4th in the 400m.
He went on to qualify for the Final in the 100 and 200m events at the NSW Junior Track and Field Championships and took the Silver Medal in the 400m race. He qualified for the National Championships in all three events making the Final in all distances.
His current PBs are: 100m 12:45, 200m 24:81 and 400m 1:03. At only 12 years of age he is one to be looking out for.
Sophia Rout - The Adventure Girl
At just 8 Years of age Sophia has done more than most adults could dream.
The National Level swimmer is the second youngest person to climb to Everest Base Camp.
Sophia came to Up And Running to work on her strength and fitness for her Historic Climb. It was from here she discovered a love of running and has quickly become one of the newest prospects at Athletics and Cross Country Championships.
In 2019 she easily won the Catholic Schools District Championships and then took her status to a new level with a GOLD Medal at the McKillop Championships ahead of her Up And Running team mate Sienna Novak.
James Tirado - T25 AWD Champion
James Tirado is a name to watch for the future.
The all round AWD Endurance Athlete has countless outstanding performances, podium finishes, medals and records in Cross Country, Track and Field and Road Racing.
He represented NSW in the 2018 Australian Cross Country Championships in Queensland. He won Gold at the Australian All Schools Track and Field Championships in the 800m event.
James has kicked off 2019 with even bigger success with PBs at all of his chosen distances. At the 2019 NSW Junior Track and Field Championships he took Gold in the 800 and 1500m events and Silver in the 400m. This was followed by a Silver Medal in the 1500m and Bronze in the 400 and 800m at the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships.
In his first representation on Australia at the Oceania Games James won the Bronze Medal in the U18s 400 metre event.
He is a very inspirational young Athlete.
11 Year old Jack is a rising star on the Track and in Cross Country.
2019 is turning out to be a big year for this young sportsman who is also a keen Rugby player and swimmer.
He represented NSW at the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships in the 800 and 1500m events.
In Cross Country he placed 4th at the CIS Championships qualifying for the NSW All Schools Champioships.
At the NSW Athletics Cross Country Championships in Nowra Jack had an outstanding run at the front of the field and scored himself the Bronze Medal with a stunning sprint finish.
With natural talent over several distances we know we'll be seeing plenty more from Jack in the future.
Outstanding Elite Junior Athletes who have developed their racing performance through our running and triathlon programs
16 year old Kirsty Beattie is a little dynamo. A great all rounder she has competed at representative level in Swimming, Surf Lifesaving, Triathlon, Track and Cross Country.
Kirsty has had great success on the fun run and ocean swim circuit with several Age Group wins and podium finishes. At the Bondi Blue Water Challenge she was outright female winner in the 4km Beach Run and backed this up with a 3rd place in the 1km Ocean Swim.
In 2017 she finished a very respectable 8th place at the NSW All Schools Track Championships in the 3000m in 10:55 and in 2018 placed 4th in the NSW Athletics Junior Championships in the 3000m qualifying for the NSW Team for the Australian Championship Event.
She achieved an outstanding 10th at the 2018 NSW All Schools Triathlon Champioships and won the GOLD Medal at the NSW SLS Championships in the 2km Beach Run. This was followed with a Bronze Medal at the Australian Aquathon Championships and a GOLD Medal at the Australian Open Triathlon Championships.
She qualified for both the NSW Athletics and the NSW All Schools Teams at the 2018 Australian Cross Country Championships finishing 13th.
On the Track Kirsty took the GOLD Medal in the 2000m Steeple Chase and the 3000m at the NSW All Schools Championships, and in 2019 took GOLD at the NSW Athletics Junior Championships in the 2000m Steeple Chase.
She kicked off 2019 finishing 6th at the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships qualifying for Nationals where she placed 11th and was the 3rd NSW Athlete in the Senior Division. This was followed by a podium finish at the IGSSA Cross Country Championships and qualifying for the NSW All Schools Championships.
Kirsty has been working on her bike skills with Coach Warren on the back hills of Centennial Park. She has been selected into the NSW Triathlon Development Squad for 2018/2019 and was awarded 2018 Up And Running Athlete of the Year.
15 year old Eleanor Miller is a name to look out for. With a mother and aunty both female City 2 Surf Winners, Eleanor has amazing running pedigree.
One of the original members of Up And Running, Eleanor plays Touch Football, Representative Soccer, and Netball.
In 2017 she took out the IGGSA 4km Cross Country Championships winning by more than 200 metres in a time of 14:21,and followed this with third place in the CIS Cross Country Championships.
In June 2017 she achieved her goal to represent NSW at the National Cross Country Championships by finishing 8th at the State Titles in Nowra. Her long term goal is to trial for the Australian Olympic Team.
At the NSW All Schools Track Championships she ran a huge PB to take the Bronze Medal in 4:47 for the 1500m event.
Eleanor was also first female overall in the 5km Warrior Run in Centennial Park in 2017 and 2018.
She kicked off 2018 with several PBs and outstanding track performances. She took the Bronze Medal at the NSW All Schools Track Championships in the 1500m event. At the Metropolitan East Little Athletics Championships she won the 800m and 1500m events and went on to take the Gold and Silver Medal in those events at the Regional Championships. At the NSW Junior Track Championships she was 5th place in the 1500m race.
Her Cross Country success continued throughout 2018 with a Silver Medal at the IGSSA Championships, a Bronze Medal at the NSW Cross Country Championships and selection to the NSW All Schools Team for the Australian Cross Country Championships. She kicked off the 2019 Season with a Silver Medal in the 7km Open Novice Event at the St George Cup and a Silver Medal at the CIS Championships.
Eleanor says "At Up And Running we always have fun and we all get along really well. I like how Jordan always helps/motivates me when I am training."
Billy and Kade Zavetsanos
The Zavetsanos Brothers are two of the founding members of the Up And Running Squad.
First joining the program as keen Cross Country Runners in 2016 and competing to State Level they both developed an interest in the sport of Triathlon and began training with Coach Warren to develop their cycling skills.
They are both now formidable figures on the podium of many major Triathlon Events and are forging outstanding future careers in the Sport.
Billy is the NSW All Schools Triathlon Gold Medalist for 2019.
Alex started her running and triathlon career in 2016 at Up And Running and has gone on to podium finish at State and National Level in Track, Cross Country and Triathlon under the guidance of Coaches Jordan and Warren.
In 2018 she was Up And Running "Female Runner of the Year".
Her 2018 Cross Country campaign saw her take 2nd place at the CIS and NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships earning her a spot in the NSW Team for the Australian Cross Country Championships where she placed 7th.
She has had great success on the fun run circuit with some outsatnding podium finishes including a 2nd place female in the Blackmore's Family Fun Run and outright female wins in the Maroubra Fun Run and the Warrior Run in Centennial Park. Alex was also the 2017 Gold Medalist in the 2km Beach Run at the State and National Nippers Championships.
Taking her running skills to the sport of Triathlon she has had several podium finishes at events both locally and interstate. At the 2018 NSW All Schools Championships she came from behind with an impressive run leg to finish 2nd in the Junior division qulaifying for the NSW Triathlon Team for the National Championships where she placed 7th overall and 2nd NSW. This was followed in 2019 with the GOLD Medal at the NSW All Schools Championships.
Alex kicked off 2019 with an Age Group win at the National Junior Triathlon Championships in Canberra as well as breaking the Regional Little Athletics 3000m record and taking Silver in the 1500m. She then went on to win the 1500m Gold Medal at the NSW Junior Track and Field Championships and at the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships.
